Why we created a platform for Salesforce Managers to collaborate

Talent Hub hosted the first Salesforce Operational and Technical Manager meet up last week in Sydney. The event will run quarterly in both Sydney and Melbourne with the first Melbourne date to be released shortly.

The idea for the event came about when a key client of ours mentioned how eager he was to understand how his peers were tackling the Salesforce challenges that his company were currently working through. The Salesforce community is fantastic at collaborating, however a forum didn’t exist where people with operational and technical management responsibility could share ideas, discuss challenges and help each other.

When we positioned the idea of a group to other clients we had a huge amount of interest but also received some questions as to how this was going to be different to the other Salesforce meet ups. If you are also wondering this, then here’s how:

– Attended exclusively by Salesforce Operational and Technical Managers from end-user companies.
– Rather than open networking, the event is a round-table format where everyone is there to share, exchange war stories and collaborate.
– Topics of discussion are agreed prior to the event by the attendees, so people were able to come prepared and go into sufficient detail.
–  The attendees discuss real time challenges with their counterparts from other companies rather than listening to a presentation from a third party.

Last Wednesday’s event was attended by 17 Sydney based Salesforce Managers from end-user companies. Some were just at the beginning of their Salesforce journey and are currently implementing the system, others had been using Salesforce for up to 10 years. Although attendees were at different stages of their Salesforce journey, everyone could appreciate and relate to the same challenges.

The main topics of discussion for the first event in Sydney were user adoption, data management and governance. There were sighs of relief from the 17 attendees when they realised that they were not the only company facing these challenges. Every attendee was able to offer up valuable insights into how their company is addressing these issues and it was fantastic to see experience being shared.

The feedback we have received since the event has been brilliant. The majority of attendees had never met before but are now continuing conversations away from the event and are all excited to meet up again in three months‘ time.

We had a great evening and it was clear to us that:

-Salesforce managers really want a forum like this, that enables them to meet with their counterparts and speak openly and honestly about current issues.
-The attendees really appreciated that no one was there to sell, only share.
-People left the group feeling supported and encouraged.

If you are an Operational or Technical Salesforce manager at an end-user company in Melbourne or Sydney and you feel that this event would be of value then please connect with the group at the link below or get in touch with the team at Talent Hub.
